DesignPhiladelphia's Largest Festival Yet

Challenge

DesignPhiladelphia, the Center / Architecture + Design’s signature public festival, is the largest festival dedicated to design in the United States. DesignPhiladelphia highlights the work of thousands of local designers, architects, and creative professionals to demonstrate Philadelphia’s reemergence as a 21st century city shaped by thoughtful design.

Maven was tasked with promoting the festival’s 13th year, which included the work of thousands of local designers, architects and creative professionals with more than 130 events in nine days. In addition to increasing visibility for the festival itself, DesignPhiladelphia wanted to help drive ticket sales for the Kickoff Party, the festival’s marquee event.

Strategy

Maven crafted a tailored media relations campaign with strategic key messages that were carefully conveyed through all forms of communication. A master press release was created to highlight the festival and showcase major events happening throughout the nine days. Maven developed targeted pitches and media alerts to tell the stories of the for specific events and initiatives during the festival, reaching beyond traditional design media and focusing on regional, tourism, construction and architectural press.

Results

The kick off party sold out, and Maven nearly doubled the previous year’s media coverage of the festival and the kickoff party, generating nearly 32 million impressions.
