Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller announced today that its board of directors unanimously elected Ronald P. Schiller to be the firm’s Chair, succeeding Mark A. Aronchick. The move is the next step in the firm’s strategic growth and succession planning process. In 2014, Aronchick succeeded fellow founding shareholder, William T. Hangley, as a Chair in the firm’s first significant leadership change, and Schiller became Vice-Chair. In addition, the firm also announced today the re-election of following additional officers: David B. Pudlin (President and CEO), Cheryl Young (Treasurer) and Robert L. Ebby (Secretary), who also serve on the firm’s board along with John Summers, David Scolnic, Hangley, Aronchick and Schiller.

“The core of this firm has always been service – to our clients, to our community, and to each other,” said Mark Aronchick. “We have succeeded in recruiting attorneys like Ron, who shares those values. I look forward to participating in many new and continued successes under his leadership.”

Schiller, a business litigator, has chaired the firm’s Insurance Practice Group since he joined Hangley Aronchick in 2009. He regularly represents the world’s largest insurers and reinsurers in trial and appellate courts throughout the country in sophisticated coverage, bad faith, and reinsurance issues, including disputes against financial institutions, other large companies and healthcare and managed care companies on E&O, D&O, professional liability, reinsurance, and ERISA coverage disputes. He has been named a Leader in Insurance Law by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business; one of The Best Lawyers in America in Insurance Law and Commercial Litigation; 2014 Philadelphia Lawyer of the Year for Insurance Law; and named a local Litigation Star by Benchmark: The definitive Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys.

“I am thrilled to follow in the large footsteps of Bill and Mark. I am even more thrilled that I get to practice law with them and the remarkable team of exceptional people they’ve brought together. As Chair, it is my goal to continue that excellence by training our own, by attracting the best and brightest from outside the firm, and by taking on the most challenging commercial and public interest matters.”

Founded in 1994 with 16 lawyers and 25 total employees, Hangley Aronchick has grown to 48 attorneys and nearly 100 total employees in four offices. The firm cherishes its unique culture of uncompromising high standards, a collegial atmosphere and a commitment to the community through pro bono work and civic engagement.

“When we founded the firm in 1994, we wanted to start something bigger than ourselves,” said David Pudlin, President and CEO of Hangley Aronchick. “We tried to build a culture of excellence that fosters individual growth, teamwork and new leaders. I am delighted to be able to say that so many of our founding partners maintain vibrant practices today while trusted partners step up to continue the firm’s success for many years to come.”
