Lime Invites Philadelphians to Demo New Scooters that are Built for Safety

Lime, the leading U.S. smart mobility company, is pleased to announce the company’s new scooter is available to the public for demo in Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 30th from 8:30am – 6:30PM at City Hall Plaza. The new Lime-S Gen 3 was built for safety and comfort with upgraded 10-inch wheels to improve stability, a mountain bike-inspired front suspension system, and multimodal braking.

“The demand for electric scooters in Philadelphia is high and offering Lime as an option to city residents can reduce emissions and help provide a solution for heavy vehicle traffic, ”said Shari Shapiro, Director of Mid-Atlantic Government Relations at Lime.“The safety of our riders and the community is our top priority, which is why we are excited to offer the residents of Philadelphia a chance to demo our new scooters.”

Lime’s Gen 3 scooter is designed to handle cityscapes. With increased battery efficiency and a more durable aluminum frame, the Gen 3 is the safest, most comfortable shared scooter on the street. Scooters are part of an effort to reduce the city’s carbon footprint by taking more personal vehicles off the road and addressing last mile travel challenges for Philadelphia residents. All Lime rides are carbon free, showcasing a clear dedication to bettering the environment and offering more sustainable transportation alternatives for users.

“I am interested in learning about electric scooters and how they work in other cities,” said Councilman Mark Squilla.“I support a pilot program in my district because I believe the use of electric scooters could reduce congestion and create transportation options for residents and visitors.”

“After I witnessed the success of electric scooter programs in other cities across the United States, we began examining how Lime can provide a more robust system of transportation for the City of Philadelphia,” said Councilman Derek Green. “Scooters will aide in reducing the number of vehicles on the city streets and the carbon they emit.”

Local Philadelphia residents will have the opportunity to demo Lime’s new Gen 3 scooter, take part in the hands-on safety demonstration and connect with Lime team members in an interactive community environment at City Hall Plaza.
