Lime: Helping America’s Leading E-Scooter Enter New Markets
As Lime looks to enter the Philadelphia market, they tapped Maven to help raise awareness and generate positive publicity.
Generating Buzz Around E-Scooters in Philadelphia
The Challenge
Lime is the leading U.S. smart mobility company, serving more than 100 cities around the globe with safe, environmentally sustainable transportation. Currently, Philadelphia and New York City are the last two of the top ten U.S. cities who have not yet adopted electric scooters.
Maven was brought on to support Lime locally as they enter the Philadelphia market. To raise awareness of the benefits of electric scooters, Lime hosted an event at City Hall to showcase the benefits of micromobility and to introduce Philadelphia residents to Lime’s new scooter, the Lime-S Gen 3.
The Strategy:
Maven created a comprehensive media relations campaign to support Lime’s electric scooter demo at City Hall. A press release and media advisory were drafted to convey the details of the event, providing necessary background about micromobility in Philadelphia, and informing the public about where the city and state were in the approval process for a new bill that would allow electric scooter use in Pennsylvania.
At the same time, it was important for Maven to coordinate with local Philadelphia City Councilpersons who support the use of electric scooters in the city. Maven worked with the elected official’s teams to draft quotes on their behalf for inclusion in press materials.
In addition, Maven picked a handful of leading reporters and influencers and offered interviews with a Lime spokesperson prior to the event to encourage more in-depth coverage.
The Results:
Maven garnered an impressive amount of broadcast and online press for Lime’s demo in Philadelphia including a live segment with FOX29’s Good Day Philadelphia, featuring a Lime spokesperson and Councilman Derek S. Green on air. Additionally, Maven secured broadcast coverage to run on all of Philadelphia’s four major broadcast networks. WHYY and Philadelphia magazine both conducted in-depth interviews, resulting in well researched and balanced news articles.
Maven successfully demonstrated the benefits of micromobility and drove awareness to the residents of Philadelphia, ultimately setting up the Lime team for success as they enter the Philadelphia market.
