River Alive! – A New Focus For Independence Seaport Museum

The Challenge

Independence Seaport Museum ushered in a new strategic focus with the opening of its landmark exhibition, River Alive!. The exhibit merges 21st century technologies and experiential learning to address the wonders and challenges of the Delaware River watershed, our place within that system, and the increasingly sophisticated science we use to understand it.

Strategy

To introduce River Alive! to local media, Maven planned and executed a private media preview and press conference in advance of the public opening. Maven worked closely with the Museum and key exhibit contributors to develop key messages, remarks and press materials to convey the significance of the new exhibit and what it means for the Museum moving forward.

Results

The media preview resulted in over a dozen local print, online and broadcast media placements focusing on the opening of the new exhibition. Opening day saw more attendance from the public than any other exhibit opening in the previous 10 years.
