Hotel West + Main, Tapestry Collection by Hilton Breaks Ground in SORA West Development in Conshohocken

The Harman Group (THG), a firm specializing in structural engineering and parking planning and design, celebrated the groundbreaking of Hotel West + Main on March 4, 2021. The boutique hotel, a part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, represents the latest development of SORA West, a 1,073,600 square-foot mixed-use development including a 13-story, 524,838 square-foot structure that will be home to the corporate headquarters for AmerisourceBergen, as well as a restaurant within a rehabbed historic firehouse, a public outdoor plaza and parking garage.

The Harman Group provided structural engineering, and parking planning and design services for the overarching $325 million, mixed-use SORA West development in partnership with architect, Gensler and construction manager, Intech.  The firm also provided structural engineering for Hotel West + Main in partnership with developer Keystone Property Group, Concord Hospitality Enterprises and design architect DLR.

The seven-story, 88,000 square foot hotel will feature 130 rooms, a lounge and meeting spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and retail space on street level at the south end. A first-floor dining experience with an outdoor terrace will physically connect the former home of Washington Fire Company to the hotel. The project consists of wood frame, structural steel with slab-on-metal-deck design.

“The Harman Group has substantial knowledge of hospitality and mixed-use projects, especially on demanding sites, which has allowed us to pair advanced structural design with high-end amenities,” said Malcolm Bland, P.E., Vice President and Principal, The Harman Group. “We are proud to be a part of the team that is assisting with reinventing development in Conshohocken.”

The Harman Group has also served as the structural engineers on numerous complex mixed-use projects, including East Market, the Aramark Headquarters at 2400 Market Street, and Bridge on Race.
