Background

In the lead up to the 2024 General Election, Philadelphia was at the epicenter of the highly politicized Presidential campaign.  To prepare Philadelphia for the spotlight, Maven, in partnership with Bellevue Communications, worked with the Philadelphia City Commissioners Office to launch a City-wide voter education campaign, while creating and conveying messaging that ensured the world knew that Philadelphia’s voting process was safe, secure, and accurate.

Strategy

The Maven-Bellevue team developed a comprehensive strategy designed to showcase the accuracy and transparency of our voting process, while simultaneously addressing potential criticism and misinformation through key messaging, rapid response, media tours of the Election Warehouse, ongoing media coordination, and multiple press conferences on Election Night and the following days of ballot counting. The team was also prepared to combat misinformation about Philadelphia’s voting process that was circulating online.

The Maven-Bellevue team fielded over 600 media inquiries over the course of a few weeks, over 1,000 stories in the press. In the face of intimidation tactics that included unsupported challenges to the voting process, false and deliberately misleading claims on social media, and bomb threats at several voting locations – and with the whole world watching and waiting on the results – the Commissioners ran a fair, non-partisan process and completed an accurate counting of all eligible ballots.
