In today’s Insight, we’ll be discussing the benefits of creating a podcast. A “podcast” is a series of spoken-word audio files that share information via the internet or can be downloaded onto a computer or mobile device.
The podcast industry is exploding, and according to Podcast Insights, there are more than 2 million podcasts and 48 million episodes. People like to listen to content; you might wish that you could listen to this blog right now.
Edison Research conducted a study that found more and more people are familiar with the term “podcasting,” with 75% of Americans age 12+ being familiar with the term and 37% listen monthly. Begging the question, should your company start its own podcast?
Before I get into how to start a podcast, let’s look at the benefits of having one.
Benefits of Having Your Own Podcast
Companies use podcasts for a variety of reasons, some of which include:
» Share information about a new product, industry news, or company news.
» Establish trust, add value and create deeper connections by consistently sharing industry expertise with your audience.
» Can contribute to a company’s social networking, newsletter, and website strategy.
» Companies benefit from podcasts because they are convenient, allowing subscribers to listen to them at any time, cost-effective to produce, and a time-efficient form of communication.
› Edison Research found that 65% of podcast listeners tune in using portable devices such as smartphones or tablets, making multitasking easier.
Now, you might be asking yourself, “this all sounds good and dandy, but how do I do this?” Leading me to explain how to create your own podcast successfully. For more information about podcasts, visit Podcast Insights, Edison Research, and Learning Times.
